Enjoy an exciting rafting trip in the New River Gorge National Park with one of our highly experienced guides. Experience Class III/IV rapids, amazing scenery, and a catered lunch break on the New River in West Virginia. It’s an amazing experience you are sure to remember!
Your New River rafting adventure begins by checking in at our BaseCamp, where you meet the trip leader and your guide. We answer any questions or concerns and outfit everyone in your party with a paddle, PFD (flotation/life jacket), and helmet. On the short bus ride to the river, we go over safety instructions, get you ready for what to expect, and usually keep you laughing.
Once we get to the river, get into your group’s private raft with your guide and practice a few strokes before you begin the trip and feel the rush of your first rapid! The scenery through the national forest is spectacular, and it includes remnants of old coal mining operations tucked into majestic mountains, rock formations, birds of prey, water birds (even bald eagles if you’re lucky), and the occasional train that still journeys through the hills of the New River Gorge.
About halfway through the day, we stop along the banks for a delicious buffet lunch with 6 build-your-own sandwiches, fresh fruit, snacks, and dessert. (If you have special dietary needs, please let us know at the time you make your reservation so we can accommodate them.)
Refueled, we complete the second half of your New River rafting adventure, ending underneath the New River Gorge Bridge, the longest single-span arch bridge in the world when it was built, and now the third-longest in the world. The bridge is 3,000 feet long and 876 feet above the river, making it the third-tallest bridge in the U.S.
